A little information about the process
Starting the process involves some required information from you - approximate measurements, the installation location, photos of the space, and any design inspiration you have.
If you’re unsure about design or colours I’ll guide you through the process, offering recommendations and colour options that suit your style and the space. I’m here to make the process simple and collaborative, from initial ideas to the finished, handcrafted piece.
Here is a little information on the stages - from conception to installation.
From initial consultation and design concept—where we discuss your space, style, colour preferences, and functional requirements - I draw up sketches based on your specific inspiration (drawing/photos of existing panels), colour palettes or styles/themes.
I will then create a full-scale cartoon (measured drawing) to finalise composition and proportions. Once the design is approved by you, I’ll guide you to select glass types and colours. Then you leave the magic to me, where I cut the glass using the the cartoon as my guide. Every millimeter counts so precision is key!
Once the glass is cut, leaded and soldered, the panels are then cemented to make them strong and water tight.
Whiting is used to help the drying process.
And finally the panels are cleaned and polished and made to sparkle. A little time for is needed at this point to allow the putty oils to dry sufficiently before being installed.
Installation:
If required, I help coordinate delivery and installation of panels to ensure secure mounting, proper sealing, and perfect alignment so the panel sits beautifully into your space.
Additional Glazing
You may want to consider adding an additional layer of laminate glass onto the exterior of the panels - we can discuss your requirements and the best options for you.
